Dodge is ditching its beloved Hemi V8 for the next muscle car in favor of an electric platform. Dodge is looking to muscle in on the electric vehicle market with its new EV, slated for 2024. The new vehicles will use a dedicated electric vehicle platform that provides up to 500 miles of range and is available in a wide range of cars, including the Challenger and Charger. This muscle-powered EV has an expected price tag of $55,000 – which is quite steep if they want to continue selling their performance cars.

Stellantis, Dodge’s parent firm, revealed four distinct electric vehicle platforms, three of which are unibody constructions with ranges of 300 to 500 miles. We anticipate the all-new electric performance vehicle to use its STLA large platform, which promises a driving range of up to 500 miles. With one of Stellantis’ dedicated EV platforms, this vehicle has many expectations to live up to. With no engine noise, a need for improved battery technology, and charging infrastructure, it’s just hard to convince people that these are worth buying.

Dodge says that the new platform is “a nod to the future, which will bring about another great automotive era – the era of the electrified muscle car.” According to Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis, the firm will provide further details on its electric plans shortly and debut an electric concept next year.

Kuniskis also said, “Our electric muscle cars will be powerful, fast, [and] ferocious. Just like our founder’s vision for the Dodge Brothers’ first car in 1914.” The battery technology used is still unknown, but we can expect it not to be an afterthought.
