Shrek producer Aron Warner is under fire after scrapping the script to Shrek 5. Warner got into a heated argument with Shrek’s creator, Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, over Shrek 5, and it seems that he has given up on the film for good. “I’m done,” said Warner in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s been too much fighting.”
The Shrek movie franchise was one of the most successful animated franchises in history and has grossed over $3 billion worldwide. Warner said that he scrapped the Shrek 5 script because it had become too challenging to develop new stories for Shrek’s character. “There’s only so many times you can tell this story before there are no more emotional stakes,” he said.
The Hollywood Reporter interviewed Shrek producer Aron Warner about Shrek 5 and found out that his fight with Shrek’s creator, Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, was the last straw. It seems as if he has given up on Shrek 5 altogether.
While he fought many battles for Shrek movies throughout his time at DreamWorks, he says this last battle is what pushed him away from Shrek’s story forever. The Shrek producer Aron Warner has since been exiled from the studio.
The future of Shrek 5 is unknown, as the company must know start again from the beginning.
